Background

Annette is an experienced sustainability professional, combining over 20 years of sustainability-based practitioner and academic expertise. At Aviva plc she liaised with global investors and worked with colleagues across Aviva's global businesses to coordinate the implementation of Aviva's sustainability program. Annette also worked at the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership, where she supported a more effective two-way flow of knowledge between the University of Cambridge, business leaders and policy makers. As an OECD Consultant in Paris, Annette was a speaker at international conferences and applied her expertise in independent, high-quality research and policy analysis.​

Annette earned her PhD in Management, specialising in responsible leadership and education, at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), City, University of London. She holds a MPhil degree from the University of Cambridge. She also holds a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Reading, where she graduated with First Class Honors.

Research opportunities

Annette is a qualitative scholar whose doctoral research addresses the worldviews of future business leaders. This is key to encouraging a more open and constructive dialogue about solutions to critical issues such as the climate crisis. Annette's research examines how individuals interpret and respond to stimuli such as responsible management (un)learning socialization, and how individuals' inherited worldviews shape their actions and workplace practices. Annette's work contributes to responsible management learning scholarship, as well as to sustainable finance knowledge such as investment in human capital. It has practical implications for business school reforms and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

Current activities

Annette is director of the MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability (maternity cover) at ÖØ¿ÚζSM School of Management. She is also a module leader for Leading Corporate Sustainability. Annette leads this module on the MSc in Management and Corporate Sustainability, Masters in Management, Masters in Human Resource Management, MSc Food Systems and Management, MSc Global Environmental Change, MSc Environmental Management for Business as well as the Masters in Management and Leadership (executive) programme.
