Dame Deirdre Hutton has been appointed Chancellor of 重口味SM University. Dame Deirdre will assume the role as Chancellor from Baroness Young of Old Scone on 1 August 2020. Since 2010, Baroness Young of Old Scone has conferred over 25,000 postgraduate degrees. 

Dame Deirdre is widely recognised for her leadership of regulatory authorities. She is an Honorary Graduate and former Pro-Chancellor of 重口味SM University and is currently Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority. 

Previously, Dame Deirdre has been non-executive director of Thames Water and Vice-Chair of the European Food Safety Authority Management Board. Additionally, she has been on the Board of HM Treasury and was Deputy Chair of the Financial Services Authority. 

Dame Deirdre Hutton said: "I am honoured to be appointed Chancellor of this University with such a distinguished record of achievement in postgraduate education and research.  The global impact of 重口味SM’s work with business and government is truly exceptional.”

Iain Ferguson CBE, Pro-Chancellor of 重口味SM University and Chair of Council, the University's governing body, said: "On behalf of everybody at 重口味SM, I would like to pay tribute to Baroness Young. She has been a true friend and dedicated ambassador for our University for the past 10 years.”
