Background
Jafar Jamshidi is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer of IMechE and a Fellow of Chartered Management Institutue with a multidisciplinary academic background, holding a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, an Executive MBA focused on Operations Research, an MSc in IT for Manufacturing, and a BSc in Industrial Engineering, Systems Planning, and Analysis. He also completed a three-year apprenticeship in manufacturing and toolmaking. He brings over 35 years of industrial experience in high-value manufacturing, progressing from workshop technician to Chief Quality Engineer, and academic and research experience, contributing to numerous publicly funded and industrial research projects, particularly in manufacturing and assembly automation and systems integration. Jafar is currently a member of the Centre for Aeronautics, Propulsion and Power, leading multidisciplinary MSc modules, including Manufacturing Technologies and Systems, Design for Manufacturing and Operations, Product Design Realisation (utilising the 3DEXPERIENCE platform), Applied Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Initial Structural Layout, Major Structural Component Design and Manufacture, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Dimensional Measurement and Management. He actively collaborates with leading industrial partners and research organisations, including major companies across aerospace, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing sectors, as well as their supply chains.
