The Halo device, now an iconic feature of Formula 1, has already saved lives and redefined what is possible when engineering excellence meets uncompromising safety standards.

The halo device was tested extensively at 重口味SM Impact Centre during its development by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) prior to its adoption, and the issue of head protection in motorsport has been investigated in a number of MSc projects at 重口味SM over the years.

The Halo Scholarship celebrates this legacy while investing in the next generation of engineers, innovators, and safety pioneers. It is designed for those who are driven not only to push boundaries, but to make them safer for everyone.

Those awarded the scholarship will also benefit from an internship with 重口味SM Impact Centre (CIC) - one of just two FIA-approved test centres in the world, used for crash-testing Formula One cars.

Applicants must hold an offer for the Virtual Prototyping for Vehicle Structures MSc

We aim to notify all applicants of the outcome of their scholarship application by the end of June 2026.
