About
Prior to joining Kingston Universityas a Senior Lecturer in Education, I spent over 15 years in the primary classroom. My professional experience as a teacher and senior leader provided me with many opportunities to work with student teachers and sparked my passion for teacher education.
I lecture in mathematics, English and design technology across the BA (Hons) Primary Education and Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programmes, and also support students in my roles as a personal tutor and Kingston Lead Mentor (KLM) for professional practice placements. I am a member of the Mathematics Education research group, with interests in advancing theory and practice for mathematics learning across all educational levels and settings. Last year, I successfully completed the Masters of Research (MRes) in Education at KU, carrying out research into the impact that mathematical experiences may have on trainee teachers' career choices and trajectories.
In addition to this, I am also a governor at one the University's partner schools. This role enables me to continue to actively participate in school life, working alongside senior leaders, teachers, parents and pupils to positively impact learner experiences and outcomes.
